Walter L. Turner
Walter L. Turner was born January 4, 1939 to John and Opal (Baker) Turner at Gotebo, Ok. He departed this life on April 3, 2019 at the Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 80 years.
Walter attended the Norman Public Schools. He was employed with the Chastain Holland Co. before purchasing the Phillips 66 Gas Station in Norman. After selling the station he became a Norman Firefighter for the next 23 years retiring as a Captain.
Walter was an excellent trim carpenter and also had the Turner Backhoe Service in Norman for many years. He loved his boat and waterskiing. He spent his summers at Lake Thunderbird on his off time.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and Daughter Julie Oliver. He is survived by 2 sons: Paul Turner and wife Sheila of Noble, Mark Turner of Norman, 2 daughters; Melissa Kirby of Noble, Tammie Jones of Washongton, OK, 2 sisters; Wanda Turner of California, Judy Gowens and husband Tommy of Norman, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2019, Skyridge Freewill Baptist Church Noble, OK.
OFFICIATING: Pastor Greg Cleveland
INTERMENT: Norman IOOF Cemetery
VISITATION: 5:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, April 4, McMahans Funeral Home Noble, OK.
