Norman, OK - Terry Phillip Garner, age 78, passed away on August 8, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born in Belleville, Illinois, to Bernice Klotz Garner and Theo D. Garner, and went to college in South Bend, Indiana. Terry was a former U.S. Marine who later enjoyed a forty year career in manufacturing and finance, working for companies both local and national. His work experience crossed multiple U.S. states, Canada, and China.

Terry lived most of his adult life in Norman, Oklahoma, where he spent fifteen years teaching in the college and adult ministries at Trinity Baptist Church. He blended his love of scripture and historical fiction by becoming a published author of the Magi Journey trilogy - a richly detailed historical-biblical fiction series exploring themes of prophecy, redemption, and cultural transformation through the eyes of the Magi.

Terry was the proud father of Wendy Jean Herbrandson and Brenda Ann Kountz from his previous marriage to Mary Garner. He married Sherry Garner in 1989 and considered her son, Nicholas Ryan Bolton, as his own.

Terry loved golf, traveling, reading, discipling, and spending time playing games with his family. He was known by his friends and colleagues as having a brilliant mind and high ethical standards.

Terry is survived by his wife, Sherry Garner, of the home; daughter, Wendy Jean Herbrandson, and her husband, Eric, and children, Zachary, Emma, and Ava; daughter, Brenda Ann Kountz and her husband, Caleb, and children, Royce and Brodrick; stepson, Nicholas Ryan Bolton, and two sisters, Bonnie Vega and Robin Fleetwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Theo Garner.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church, Norman, Oklahoma, with internment following at Sunset Memorial Park.
