Norman, OK - Ross Wayne White was born August 21, 1932, in Gustine, Texas, the second of four sons born to Ballard and Lyndall White. The family later moved to Wink, Texas, where Ross graduated from high school in 1950. He married the love of his life, Catherine Josephine Barrett, on August 28, 1950. Ross began his career with Pure Oil Company at age 19, living near Jal, New Mexico, where he and Catherine welcomed their three children: Cathy Rene, Connie Gay, and Joe Ross. He later worked for Union Oil in Midland, Texas, before being promoted and transferred to the Oklahoma City office in 1968. Ross and Catherine made their home in Norman, Oklahoma, where Ross commuted for more than 20 years and became a lifelong Oklahoma Sooners fan. Ross believed strongly in "sweat equity." Self-taught and endlessly resourceful, he generously helped friends, neighbors, and family with countless projects, never accepting payment. Ross was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Rene White; his brothers, Guy, Jimmy, and Jackie White; his son in law, Marshal Kinsey; and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Catherine White; his daughter, Connie Kinsey; his son, Joe White, and daughter in law, Jana White; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Ross will be remembered for his generosity, tireless work ethic, deep love for his family, and the countless lives he touched through quiet acts of service. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Norman IOOF Cemetery, 1913 N. Porter Ave., Norman.
