They raised their three sons, splitting their time between Oklahoma and the family ranch at Torrey Lake, near Dubois. They enjoyed entertaining friends and traveling, whether roughing it in the Wind River backcountry or touring the world in style. In her retirement, she divided her time between the ranch and Green Valley, Ariz. She was most proud of the Montessori school she started in Norman. Her school touched and enriched the lives of thousands. Children's House is still thriving today, more than 45 years later. Phyllis was predeceased by her two sisters, Patricia Ozmun and Pamela Willis, as well as her husband, John. She is survived by her sons John, James and Joseph (Karen), and grandson, Eli (Joseph). Per Phyllis' request, no public services will be hosted. A family service will be scheduled at a later date. Given her dual loves of early childhood education and Dubois, those wishing to honor Phyllis' memory can make a donation to the American Montessori Society or the Dubois Museum.
