Mary Glynne Mildren Obituary
Norman, Oklahoma - Mary Glynne Mildren, age 95, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on July 24, 2025. She was born on March 7, 1930, in Edinburg, Texas, the only child to S.F. Lamont and Aileen Lamont. Mary Glynne spent her early years in Brownsville, Texas, where she married Larry Jack Mildren in 1948 and eventually moved to Norman in 1972.
Mary Glynne was a seamstress in Abilene, Texas, for 17 years and continued her career for another 30 years in Norman, working at several ladies clothing stores.
While in Norman, she was a member of PEO and actively attended McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. Most important to her was her family, where it was a tradition of pre-game meals at her house before every OU home football game, with the standard meal being brisket, cheese grits, potato salad, and chocolate cake.
Mary Glynne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; son, Jack; and grandson, Jason. She is survived by two sons, Richard of Oklahoma City and Glynne (Dianne) of Dallas; daughter-in-law, Janis of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Leigh (Russ), Lauren (Brad), Drew (Caroline), Matt (Meg), Whitney (Chris) Luke (Kelsey); fourteen great grandchildren; along with many friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sooner Station and Hospice of Oklahoma for the wonderful they gave to Mary Glynne in her last few years.
A family celebration will occur early this fall to celebrate the life of Mary Glynne Mildren. If you desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PEO of Norman, Chapter BP, 4213 Moorgate Drive, Norman, OK 73072.
