Martha Beeson-Cobb
Martha "Nano" Beeson Cobb, 95, of Norman, OK, passed peacefully away in her sleep on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma, leaving behind her beloved family of four children, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Marth was born in Norman on May 11, 1924, to Effie and Irl Sellers. She grew up and lived in Norman for most of her life, except when she and her four children followed her late husband, Lt. Colonel Bill Beeson, as he was stationed with the United States Army in various locations around the world and in the United States throughout his career. She and Bill had known each other throughout most of their childhood and high school years, and then fell in love and were married in Norman in 1942. They were happily married nearly 50 years until Bill's passing in July of 1992. The couple primarily raised their family in Oklahoma, living both in Norman, and then in Lawton, while Bill was stationed at and then retired from the Ft. Sill Army Base. After Bill's retirement, the couple moved to Sun City, AZ for a short time and then returned to Oklahoma in 1984, settling for the rest of their lives in their hometown of Norman.
Several years after Bill's passing, Martha attended her 60th high school reunion, where she reconnected with an old high school classmate and close friend, Fred Cobb. The two fell in love and were married at the age of 77, in 2001; they remained married for 18 years, until Fred's passing in March, earlier this year. Both of Martha's marriages were extremely happy ones, during which Martha enjoyed all her favorite pastimes: fishing, traveling, OU football, and attending monthly high school get-togethers.
Martha is survived by her four children, Janet Beeson Haynie and Mike Haynie, of Lawton, OK; Carol Beeson Crull and Larry Crull, of Pauls Valley, OK; Dr. William "Billy" Beeson, DDS, of Duncan, OK; and Bruce Beeson, of Norman, OK.; and her nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren: Leslie Choate, of Lawton; Tonya Tobey and Jonathan Tobey, and their son Jake, of Pauls Valley; Lisa Dunn and Boomer Dunn, and their children Boomer, Betsey, and Bode, of Smyrna, GA; Tori Christiansen and Jeffrey Christiansen, and their sons Cooper and Calvin, of Norman; Jed Beeson and his son Maverick, of Norman; Charlcie Smith and her daughters Lily and Layla, of Moore, OK; Ryan Shipe and Carisa Shipe, and their sons, Luke, Carson, and Trey, of Tuttle, OK; Johnathan Beeson and his daughter Lexee, of Norman; and Spyce Beeson Grimmett and Tyler Grimmett and their son Memphis, of Norman.
Martha was preceded in death by her first husband Bill Beeson, her second husband Fred Cobb, her mother and father, her four siblings, her father and mother-in-law Ellsworth "E.C." and Ruth Beeson, her daughter-in-law Patricia "Patti" Beeson (wife of William "Billy" Beeson), and granddaughter-in-law Cathrin Beeson (wife of Jed Beeson).
Memorial services for Mrs. Beeson-Cobb will be held at the First Christian Church, in Norman, 220 S. Webster Ave., Jan. 18th at 10:00 A.M.
