Marilyn Joan Palmer Obituary

Norman, Oklahoma - Marilyn Joan "Lynn" Wynn Palmer

Born at home in Campbell, Ohio, on March 3, 1933, at 3:00 am ...

Marilyn's journey of learning began from little on. As a youngster, she ran to the window to see the older children off to school. She started school at age 5 and filled her life with a love of learning, family, and friends. As a young adult, she studied science and graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles as a Physical Therapist. After marrying Richard (deceased), she raised a family of three sons with a strong faith in God. She received a Master in Philosophy from The Ohio State University and worked in the publishing of children's books as an editor and writer. Finally, she earned her Doctorate in Rhetoric, at age 64, from the University of Oklahoma.

Lynn was a scholar and teacher of all with whom she interacted. She taught students from grade school to graduate school and shared her compassion and wisdom as a Philosopher with anyone willing to listen and learn. Lynn loved nature and was a loyal arborist and gardener - her Apricot trees still produce fruit and her Irises fill nature with beautiful flowers every Spring. An avid reader and puzzle player, she adopted technology easily and was a long-time tennis player.

Survived by her three sons: Ricky, Larry, and Kevin; daughter-in-law, Dana; grandchildren: Nathan and Blaire; sister-in-law, Jeanette; cousins including: Janet, Kenny, and Ray; many dear friends, students, and neighbors from all over the world, including: Agnes, Mary, Neil, Marge, Emily, Blair, Kevin, Karen, Sarah, Morgan, Thu, Sammie, Nicky, Tai, Brian, Sharon, Glenda, Wanda, Eman, Loretta, Kailee, Jon, Conni, Don, Linda, Alan, Kim, Cindy, Steve, Tony, Cathy, Ron, Vivek and family, Subha, she was loved dearly and will be sorely missed by all. One of the last things she said was, "The Good Lord Jesus provides for and loves us all and wants us to eat good food."
