Lou Albert Long (Cowboy) Obituary
Norman, Oklahoma - Lou Albert Long, AKA "Cowboy", passed away on March 21, 2026, in Norman, Oklahoma. Born June 21, 1983, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Coy Gene Long, Jr., of Pink, and Cheryl Kay Samples of Norman, Lou was every bit the name he earned, a true cowboy born a century too late.
Lou was a rambling man, working on ranches and farms across the country. His hands were always busy hunting, fishing, and living off the land. He loved Merle Haggard and Chris LeDoux, and he kept the cowboy tradition alive. He could MacGyver just about anything, and he was always tinkering around. If it was broken, he could fix it.
He is survived by his daughter Cheyenne, of Wynnewood, and granddaughter Cherokee; his sisters, Cora Gene Folks of Norman, and Julynda Smith; his nieces and nephews, Clayton, Baelea, Izayah, Josie, and Lilly; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins from coast to coast.
In lieu of a funeral service, he will be cremated and his remains brought to some of his favorite places, including the Tennessee Smoky Mountains. In his memory, please share a moment or a meal with an unhoused person, as he shared many.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4
