Houston, Texas - Kenneth (Ken) Kottka left this world peacefully on June 16th, 2025 at the age of 85. Ken was born March 8th, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He enjoyed spending time with family and loved making people laugh. He found value in many art forms and loved to sing old standards from the American Songbook. Ken lived a meaningful life filled with various experiences some people could only imagine. He was a successful businessman, beloved teacher, writer and courageous veteran. Ken loved animals, poetry and wine. He will be remembered as a loving father, thoughtful friend and kind-hearted soul. Ken is survived by his wife Janet, his four children: Mark Kottka, Kent Kottka, Keith Kottka, Jessica Kottka and three grandchildren: Kaleb, Portia, and Celeste. His many friends, fellow scholars, and family will miss him dearly.
