Norman, Oklahoma - Karen Louise Buchanan, 78, entered to rest on October 25, 2025 in her home in Norman, Oklahoma.
Karen was born on December 15, 1946 in Covington, Kentucky to Charles and Juanita Isaacs. The family moved to Oklahoma in August of 1951, when Karen was 4 years old. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1965. She met her husband, Richard Buchanan, at a drive-in in Midwest City while cruising Air Depot. They were married on November 23, 1966 in Del City, Oklahoma and spent nearly 49 years - several while Richard was serving in the Army.
Karen enjoyed cooking, listening to music, playing piano and singing, watching the OKC Thunder and OU Football, going to church, and, most of all, spending time with her family.
Karen is highly regarded as the best mother, mother-in law, MawMaw, and Mimi. She is described by her family as witty, joyful, loving, forgiving, gentle, kind, softspoken, patient, and ornery. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." -Galatians 5:22-23
Karen is survived by her children, Richard "Richie" Buchanan and wife, Pam of Midwest City, Kara Lea Cavallo and husband Shawn of Norman, and Jeana Rene Brown and husband Jacob of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Tim Buchanan, Karlena Badger and husband Nathan, Domonick Cavallo and wife Kathryn Hillis, Krystal Cavallo and husband Kellan Turner, Taryn Buchanan, Kayley Bobo and husband Tyler, and Jackson Brown; great-grandchildren Emilia, Lincoln, and Annabelle Badger and one Baby Bobo on the way; siblings Charles "Bub" Isaacs and wife Teresa, Charlene Logan, and Glen Isaacs; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Richard Buchanan, her parents, and her brother, Robert "Bobby" Isaacs.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to Penny Lee, Loving Care Hospice, and a host of family who cared for Mom through her final years, allowing her to remain in her home which she loved so much.
