Jimmy Lee Williams was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on May 20, 1944, to J.H. "Harve" Williams and Ila Williams. Jimmy passed from this life on February 22, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Linda; his Daughter Julie Garrett and her husband Bill of Norman; his daughter Jennifer Babbit and her husband Harold of Austin, Texas; his grandson Christopher O'Hair, his wife Brittany and great grandson Aiden of Van Alstyne, Texas; and his granddaughter Delaney Martin, her husband Dakota, and great granddaughter Joanna of Norman. He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Michael.
Jimmy grew up in Chickasha, Oklahoma, where at 14 he started working at the local Ben Franklin store, where his Mom also worked. After graduation he and Linda (his high school sweetheart) married, and he continued to work at Ben Franklin in Chickasha, and occasionally at the store in Cyril, Oklahoma.
In 1968, they moved to Lewisville, Texas, where Jimmy took the position of Store Manager at the Ben Franklin there. In 1970, Jimmy and Linda moved to Norman, where Jimmy worked as the co-manager of the TG&Y on West Main Street. Jimmy eventually took a position as a buyer with TG&Y at the corporate headquarters in Oklahoma City, where he worked until 1984. During his time as a buyer, he traveled extensively across the US and to Asia.
Jimmy then worked in sales for several companies, and later took a position with Cleveland County Abstract Company here in Norman, until he retired in 2006.
Jimmy loved tools and technology, and he could fix almost anything. He also loved to garden and used it as an opportunity to spend time in nature with his wife and daughters. He was an accomplished photographer, and in his later years loved to document everything with his phone camera.
Jimmy had a great sense of humor, and loved to make people laugh. Even though he spent most of his life in Oklahoma, he loved the beach and would take his family to the Texas coast every chance he had.
To Jimmy, the most important things in life, were his God, his family and anything OU. He was an avid OU football fan and held season tickets for over 45 years. He was also a veracious follower of OU Basketball, and the Oklahoma City Thunder, and was a charter fan of the Thunder.
A celebration of life service will be held for Jimmy on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 1:00 pm at NorthHaven Church at 1100 W. Main, Norman, OK.
