Norman - Jimmy "Jim" Doyle Beene, 87, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on July 11, 2026.

Jim was born on March 17, 1939, in Tribbey, Oklahoma, to Jonas and Ruby (Roberts) Beene.

Throughout his life, he was known for his intelligence, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and deep love for family and friends. He was often involved in local politics and he was a man of faith and loved God.

Jim earned a Master's Degree in Political Science and Sociology and dedicated his professional career to serving the people of Oklahoma. He worked as an Administrator for Court Related and Community Services with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and later the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs, where he helped make a positive difference in the lives of countless young people and families.

Over the years, Jim called many places home, including Tribbey, Macomb, and Norman, Oklahoma, as well as Phoenix, Arizona, and Yorba Linda, California. No matter where he lived, he carried with him a love of the outdoors, music, and family.

On May 23, 1980, Jim married the love of his life, Lavonna Grogan. Together they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and cherished memories.

Jim found joy in playing the guitar, banjo, and harmonica, and he especially loved bluegrass and country music. He enjoyed coon hunting and raising Plott Hounds, deer hunting, reading, and working puzzles. Perhaps one of his greatest pleasures was pestering his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephewsa pastime they all knew was his unique way of showing love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Ruby Beene; siblings, Peggy Beene, Wanda Bankston, Gene Ayres, Jack Beene, Junior Beene, Jerry & Bonnie Beene.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Lavonna Beene; his children, Brad Beene, J.T. Beene, Brittany Parman, Dayna Corona, Terry Stephens; grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family members, nieces, nephews; and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Jim will be remembered for his quick wit, generous spirit, love of music and the outdoors, and the unwavering devotion he showed to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the many memories he created and the lives he touched. He is now reunited with his savior Jesus Christ in Heaven.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday July 16, 2026, at Cooper Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday July 17, 2026, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Ayers officiating. Burial will follow at Tribbey Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
