Jean Winters
We are told that God "Loves us with an everlasting Love". This is sometimes very difficult to see or even feel in this world seemingly full of trials and tribulations, unless, of course, you knew Jean Winters. Mother, Nana, and friend to all who met her, her Life and Spirit were a direct conduit from Love's presence itself. She was often given a hard time by her children when she was unable to keep her eyes open for a photograph - even when we took a picture on "2" instead of counting all the way to "3".
But don't be fooled by this. In her life she was always positive, not because she closed her eyes to the negatives in life or it's seeming reality, but rather, she chose to see life from a higher perspective, from an awareness of Love's eternal presence. This allowed her to see beauty and love in all persons that she met and all the things that she saw. She chose "Being happy instead of being right". She will be sorely missed by all knew her and all who loved her. (One and the same?) We thank her for loving us and sharing with us a tangible experience of God's everlasting Love - a Love that surrounds and enfolds us, and whose presence can be felt at all times - IF we choose to open our eyes, and keep them open.
Left to cherish the memory of her Love are her children: Phil Winters and wife Jill Faulkner, Kathleen Winters, Colleen and husband David Laney, Michael D. Winters, MD, Elizabeth and husband Richard Kelley; grandchildren: Julia and husband Loïc Winters, Claire and husband Michael de Vries, Benjamin Laney, Christopher Laney, Caitlin and husband Grant Rainwater, Danielle Fabian, Joseph Winters, Emily and husband Miles Holladay, Nicholas DiCenso, Mikayla Kelley, Johnna Kelley, Addison Kelley; two great grandchildren with a third on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond S. and Berdine (Parr) Peatrowsky, step-father: William (Bill) Kotlarz and brother: David D. Parrish, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday October 10, 2019 at St. Thomas More University Parish. Father Goins will officiate.
Please bring a copy of your favorite photo of Jean, eyes open or closed, to share with the family.

So sad to see this news. Mrs. Winters was my most favorite teacher in all my years in Norman Public Schools- graduated '86. She continued that friendship after I graduated & on. Seems like we would always cross paths somewhere in Norman. She will be missed!
