Janis Lee Sullivan (Jan) Obituary

Norman, Oklahoma - Janis "Jan" Lee Sullivan, beloved wife, mother, nana, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 28, 2026, in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born on August 8, 1960, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Frank Pflueger and Dorothy Ellen (Sappington) Pflueger.

Jan married the love of her life, John "Pat" Sullivan, on August 11, 1979, beginning a beautiful marriage filled with love, laughter, family, and countless cherished memories. Early in their marriage, they lived in Midwest City for seven years before moving to Norman in May of 1986, where Jan proudly made her home for the remainder of her life.

Jan lived life with creativity, joy, sparkle, and style. She was a cheerleader in college and carried that same spirit and enthusiasm throughout her life. She loved music of all kinds, especially live music and pop music. Some of her favorite artists included Phil Collins, Simply Red, Fine Young Cannibals, Celine Dion, George Michael, and Bruno Mars. She also loved painting, crafting, decorating, assembling beautiful flower arrangements, and creating memorable gatherings for those she loved. Jan had a gift for making everything around her feel warm, festive, and beautiful. She firmly believed that "more is more" and was known for teaching others about style, decorating, "can of worms," and how to throw an unforgettable party.

A devoted fan of the University of Oklahoma, Jan loved OU football, basketball, softball, gymnastics, pom, cheer, and truly all sports. She was proudly known as OU's biggest fan. She also enjoyed visiting Hawaii, watching old movies, attending live theater performances, lighting candles, and giving gifts to everyone around her. Jan found joy in beautiful things, flowers, sparkle, Twizzlers, Cokes, and most of all, her family.

Jan was deeply involved in her community and generously volunteered her time for many years. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, the Assistance League of Norman, and volunteered with JSI Juvenile Services, Inc., now known as CCFI. She also co-owned The Market Boutique with a dear friend for many years, where her creativity and love for people flourished.

Above all else, Jan was known for being a wonderful mom and nana. Her family was the center of her world, and the memories she created with them will be treasured forever.

She is survived by her loving husband, Pat Sullivan of the home; her mother, Dorothy Pflueger; her daughters, Krysten Tidwell and husband Jason of Frisco, Texas, Kathryn Sexton and husband Ryan of Oklahoma City, and Kimberly Vick and husband Justin of Oklahoma City; her sisters, Jeanne Bennett and husband Dave of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Jill Armstrong and husband Shawn of Claremore, Oklahoma; her cherished grandchildren, Jet Tidwell, Kolbie Tidwell, Thomas Leaman, and Kensington Sexton; her nieces and nephews, Bradley Bennett, Blake Bennett, Matthew Armstrong, Sarah Armstrong, Mallory Armstrong, Sean Adams, and Ele Adams; and her beloved fur baby, Boomer.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Pflueger.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
