James Edward Schlittler Obituary

Norman, OK - James Edward Schlittler, 90, of Norman, passed away May 11, 2026.

Born June 1, 1935, in Graham, to Henry William and Elizabeth Helen (Johnson) Schlittler, James was raised on a farm where he developed the hardworking and resourceful spirit that defined his life. He attended Texas Tech University and worked for Halliburton for more than 20 years before founding his own company, CCI. He moved to Norman in 1981 and married Karen Nix on October 6, 1998.

James loved a good steak, could fix nearly anything, and was known for his humor and unforgettable sayings, including, "I don't get heart attacks, I give them!" He also cherished the memory of being in Berlin during the fall of the Berlin Wall and spending New Year's Eve there that historic year.

He is survived by his sons, James R. Schlittler (Tricia), William E. Schlittler (Kim), and Ronald R. Schlittler (Connie); granddaughters Carson (Wes) and Kara (John); and great-grandchildren Darla, Daphne, and Patrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Henry William Schlittler and Wesley Eugene Schlittler.
