Norman, Oklahoma - Mont Johnston passed away unexpectedly at his home in Norman, Oklahoma, on June 16, 2026. He was born on March 10, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Melville and Margaret Johnston.
Mont spent much of his childhood in Ottawa, Canada, and cherished summers in Bala, Ontario, enjoying life on the lake and spending time at his uncle's cranberry farm. He later attended the University of Oklahoma and built a successful career in architecture, designing notable buildings throughout Oklahoma. He was known for his brilliant mind, love of nature, sailing, and enjoyment of bicycling.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mont is survived by his brothers, Russell Johnston (Sarah) and Stephen Johnston (Suzanne); his son, Nathan Johnston (Taryn); his stepdaughter, Sammi Frank (Travis); his grandchildren, Kimber, Kassius, Hudson, and Harper; and many other family members and friends.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
