Dorothy attended schools all across the midwest until her father's career in the oil industry took the family to Purcell,Oklahoma. She attended Purcell High School and graduated in 1951. Dorothy then attended the University of Oklahoma and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. While a member of Alpha Gamma she met and married Bill Johnson in 1953. After Bill' graduation from OU they moved to Kansas City , Missouri where he attended dental school. They returned to Norman where Bill established his dental practice in 1959.
In addition to raising two daughters, Dorothy loved to travel, her cats and dogs and to decorate. She loved owning two stores, Congeries and The Columns. She also returned to OU and completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1980.
Dorothy was a member of Assistance League, Reviewers Club , PEO and other community activities. She was proud to be a donor of her grandfather, Marshall Heck Thomas' memorabilia to the Western History Collection at the University of Oklahoma.
Dorothy was predeceased by her mother and father, sister Lou Ellen Malone and niece Kathleen Hess.
She is survived by her husband Bill Johnson: two daughters, Binx Mills and husband Garold, Audrey Gough and husband Lance; three grandsons, Jake Breathwit and Laura Weeks, Chase and Andrea Gough, Connell Gough and great-grandson Max Gough. She is also survived by her nephew Larry Malone and wife Debra, Julia, Nick and Remy Mettry; Josh, Amanda, Sage and Morrison Mills.
At her request there will be a private family celebration of her life. Her family wishes to thank all who cared for her in her sudden illness including Dr. Tom Merrill and Good Shepherd Hospice.
