Don M. Hull, 84, of San Marcos, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025. He was born on August 31, 1940, in Oswalt, Oklahoma, to Earl Hull and Alice Hensley Hull.
A lifelong learner, Don was a dedicated educator and leader in both the church and academic communities. He graduated from Thackerville High School in Oklahoma before earning a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He went on to complete a master's degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from North Texas State University (University of North Texas) in Denton, Texas.
Don was united in marriage to Helen Lester Hull on July 19, 1963, in Fort Worth, Texas. Together, they shared a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to their family and community.
Don's professional career was varied and impactful. He worked with Texas Refinery Corp in Fort Worth and the Radio and Television Commission in Fort Worth. His work in church leadership included serving at First Baptist Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma; Southcliff Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas; Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas; and First Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma. Additionally, Don was a respected educator at Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma. A lifelong writer and author, he published two books and continually sought to learn, teach, and inspire others throughout his life.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hull; his son, Steven Hull; and his grandson, Kelvin Chazarreta.
He is survived by his children: Amy Fisher and husband Bobby of Mesa, Arizona, and Brooks Hull and wife Kerri of San Marcos, Texas. His legacy lives on through his grandsons: J.J. Chazarreta, Blake Hull (wife Sarah), Hunter Hull, Fisher Hull, and his great-grandson, River Hull.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery (Marietta Cemetery) in Marietta, Oklahoma, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
