Norman, OK - Denny Gale Hopkins was born on February 24,1944 in Oklahoma City to Eugene Boyd and Torrence Carole (Moore) Hopkins of Norman, Oklahoma. He passed from this life the afternoon of Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the age of 82, in Norman.

Raised in Norman, he graduated from Norman High in 1962. He attended the University of Oklahoma after receiving a baseball scholarship. After college, he joined the United States Navy. He was a proud member of the Citizen Potawatomi Indian Tribe of Oklahoma. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he started his career with the United States Postal Service, serving the city of Norman for 27 years. He retired in 1999.

He married Rose Marie McCarty in 1986 and gained a son, Sean McCarty, as well. They shared 39 years of marriage, until her passing in February of 2026.

Denny's family includes his sister Jan (Gary) Zeigler of Norman, OK; son Sean McCarty of Irving, Texas, granddaughter Megan Lyn Churchill of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sister-in-law Jackie Love of Fletcher, OK, brother-in-law Richard Vail of Apache, OK. Twelve nieces and nephews; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and extended family. He made and had friends everywhere he went.

Those that were awaiting Denny's arrival in Heaven include his beloved wife Rose; his parents, Eugene and Carole Hopkins, and his brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Kay Hopkins.

Visitation and funeral arrangements are provided by Primrose Funeral Home at 3901 N. Flood Ave., Norman, OK 73069.

Visitation: Thursday April 30 from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm.

Funeral services: Friday May 1 at 11:00 am.
