Norman, OK - David Morris Deering, age 79, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away May 23, 2026 at his home in Norman, Oklahoma.

David was born June 15, 1946 in Ada, Oklahoma, son of Dale and Geneva (Nease) Deering. On January 2, 1971, he married his lifelong partner and best friend, Debbie Seaton. Together they built a life grounded in love, family, and faith that spanned more than five decades.

David was a quiet, steady presence to everyone who knew him—dependable, kind, and always willing to lend a hand. He found great joy in serving others, especially through his church communities. For many years at First Baptist Church of Norman, he faithfully ran the sound system each Sunday, working behind the scenes with care and consistency. Later, at First Christian Church, he became a familiar and friendly face in the CHaRM Senior Adults group, where he formed meaningful friendships and remained active in fellowship.

He earned an Associate Degree in Engineering Technologies from Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City. Early in his career, David took an adventure abroad, working for Aramco Oil and spending two years in Saudi Arabia. He carried that strong work ethic throughout his life, building a respected career as a cartographic draftsman with the Oklahoma Geological Survey and later leading drafting teams at Tenneco Oil and Devon Energy. He took pride in his work and the people he worked alongside.

More than anything, David was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, a proud father, and a deeply cherished grandfather. He found his greatest happiness in the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, quietly showing his love through his presence, support, and steady encouragement.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Deering; daughter Darci Deering of Norman; his son Drew and wife Katie Deering of Chicago, IL; his grandkids Alex and Morgan Tucker, Zac Tucker, Nick Tucker, Maddie Deering, and Graham Deering; his sister Francis and Jim Atkinson of Fayetteville, AR; his brother Myles and Pam Deering of Norman, OK; and his brother Brad and Renee Deering of Fort Worth, TX; and his brother-in-law Ken Hudson of Ada, OK.
