Darrell O'Neal
Darrell O'Neal, age 81 of Kingston, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020. Darrell Ray O'Neal was born August 14, 1938 in Noble, OK, the younger of two sons born to Homer Carlton O'Neal and Francis Lorene (Bettis) O'Neal. Darrell was raised in Norman and attended school there, graduating in 1957. He then attended the University of Oklahoma for a time, before answering the call to serve his country. Darrell joined the Oklahoma National Guard and served in the Army. Darrell's life would change forever, when he met a young lady from Lexington at Immanuel Baptist Church. Her name was Joyce LaRae Barnes and it was love at first sight. Darrell married Joyce on July 2, 1960 in the very church where they met. They first made their home in Okla. City, where together they raised two daughters, Nancy and Cherri. Darrell worked as a machinist at Tinker Air Force Base for many years, and retired as shop supervisor. While in Okla. City, they were faithful members of the Southern Hills Baptist Church where they served in several capacities. In 1999, Darrell and Joyce moved to their property at Kingston and have called it home ever since. When he wasn't working, Darrell enjoyed spending his mornings at the golf course, and if time permitted, he would fish in the afternoon. He and his buddies planned an elk hunt in Colorado every year, and he looked forward to this time. He was a man of great faith and he served the Lord with all of his heart. For the last several years, he and Joyce have been members of the Texoma Southern Baptist Church. Darrell was a family man; he cherished Joyce and his girls and treasured his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed!
