Clifford Albert Lewis age 84 of Purcell, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Norman Regional Hospital. Cliff was born on September 8, 1933 in Lexington, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of eight children born to George William Lewis and Minnie Pearl (Tatum) Lewis. Cliff grew up in Lexington and attended Lexington Schools. On September 27, 1952, he married the love of his life, Irene J. Brady. Together they raised three children, Cathy, Jerry and Wayne.
In 1960, Cliff began working as a Fire Fighter for the city of Norman and worked there until he retired in 1980. For over 20 years he also owned and operated a part time business called "Lewis Fire Extinguisher". In 1983 he sold the business to his son Jerry. Cliff was a Christian man and a Baptist all of his life. For the past several years he has been a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Purcell.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing and camping at Lake Texoma. He loved giving fish away to his family and friends. He also was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed raising tomatoes.
For the past several years he enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at McDonalds in Purcell.
Cliff was preceded in death by: Parents, George and Minnie Lewis; Six brothers and sisters, Robert, Howard and Woodrow Lewis, Gladys Cable, Lois Burrage and Frances Fuerborn.
He is survived by: Wife of 65 years, Irene J. Lewis of the home in Purcell; One daughter, Cathy Fuhr and husband Richard of Yukon; Two sons, Jerry D. Lewis and wife Sandra of Norman, Wayne Lewis and wife Eva of Purcell; One brother, Junior Lewis of Salinas, CA; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, May 1, 1985 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Butler. Interment will be a Lexington Cemetery. Send online condolence @www.wilsonlittle.com.
