Charmaine Virginia Magarian Obituary
Norman - Charmaine Virginia Magarian (94) of Norman, Oklahoma passed away, June 13, 2026 in her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born September 15, 1931 in East St. Louis, IL, to Joseph and Marie Kugler.
In 1947 she met her life-long love in her senior year in High School, and they married June 24, 1950. Together they built a life in faith, love, and family that spanned over seven decades, during which time they had four children: Paula Marie, Cindy Lynn, Leslie Ann, and Bob Dwight. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Magarian, and their children, Cindy (Kenny), Leslie (Kris), daughter-in-laws Angela Magarian and Lisa Rusch, son-in-laws Chuck Freude (Hong) and Ryan Stephens (Ashley), granddaughter Natalie Stephens, grandsons, David Blanton (Megan), and David Roberts (Renee), great-granddaughters Blakely, Sydney, and Isabella, and great-grandsons Owen and Keiler, whom she loved very much. She is also survived by her sister, Jeanie Ortiz, brother Bobby Kugler, sister-in-law Sandy Magarian, cousin Gary Apoian, and many nieces and nephews.
Charmaine is known for her smiles, sweet demeanor, and kindness shown to everyone. One of her major accomplishments was supporting her husband through twelve years of college, working various administrative positions at Ole Miss, and raising four children. When her husband joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy, and became the executive director of the Kappa Psi International Pharmaceutical Fraternity, she became his administrative assistant and supervised the staff in the international office that was housed in the college for twenty years. She was so loved by the fraternity that at the 1991 Grand Council Convention, she was awarded the Kappa Psi Sweetheart Pin.
She co-founded the Norman Christmas Day Community Dinner held at Norman High with her husband in 1987. She was a strong motivator in accomplishing this great event when her husband was about to give up. This Christmas marks the 40th anniversary of the dinner.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Norman Christmas Day Community Dinner.
The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 18th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A service to celebrate the life of Charmaine will be held on Friday, June 19th at 10:00 a.m. in the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel.
