Noble, OK - WRIGHT, Charles W., age 82, died peacefully on November 29, 2025. He was born on November 12, 1943, in New York City, New York, son of Nannina B. Wright and Charles W. Wright. His family moved to Norman then Oklahoma City where he was raised. He graduated from Grant High School in 1961, and went on to earn his PhD in sociology and anthropology in 1976 from the University of Notre Dame, and a JD in 1984 from Oklahoma City School of Law. He taught sociology and criminology at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University. He finished his career practicing law in Norman having worked at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission and the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

Charles lived a life of active intellectual contemplation, and, along with his frequent co-author, Dr. Richard Hilbert, he was the author of numerous publications on sociological theory, especially the work of Talcott Parsons. Charles loved his family and all things political, remaining engaged with the affairs of world until his death. Charles was proceeded in death by his parents; and his brother Michael P. Wright. He is survived by his long-time companion and wife of nearly 30 years, Laurie Lucas; his son, Morgan Wright and Morgan's mother, Terry Wright; his two granddaughters, Marissa Wright and Mallory Yockel (Brenden); and three great-granddaughters, Charlee, Drew, and Hunter. The family plans a celebration of his life in the spring.
