Carolyn  Kieffer
Carolyn Kieffer, 88, of Norman, died Oct. 11, in Oklahoma City.
She was born in Oklahoma City Sept. 26, 1931 to Joseph D. and Lela Stafford.
Carolyn graduated from Northeast High School in Oklahoma City and was one of the first female graduates in engineering and physics from the University of Oklahoma.

She was active in the early civil rights demonstrations in Oklahoma City and was a champion for women's equality.

She worked for the Navy, the federal government and at Tinker Air Force Base.

She tutored college students in math, enjoyed knitting and her cat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joseph Stafford, James Stafford and Thomas Stafford, and a grandson, Jordan Bayazeed. Survivors include her twin sister, Marilyn Zumwalt of Norman and a sister Margaret Murray of West Plains, Mo., sons David Bayazeed and Fares Bayazeed of Norman, daughters Madelyn Phillips of Maine, Sandra Sanford of Nevada and Glenda Lashewich of Arizona; 8 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
