Erwin, TN - Carla Richeson Jones, age 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday,

February 25, 2026, at Governor's Bend Assisted Living, in Erwin, TN. She

was a native of Eldorado, Oklahoma and a daughter of the late James Carl

Richeson and Nita (Sheehan) Richeson.

Carla lived most of her life in Norman, Oklahoma before moving to

Bakersville, NC four years ago. She earned her Degree in Sociology from

Oklahoma State University.

After the birth of her two children, Carla chose to stay home and raise

them. When her children began school, she started working in office

administration and accounting for a pediatric dentistry practice. Later, Carla

earned her BS in Education and began teaching Home Economics at Little

Axe High School and Norman North High School.

Carla was a talented seamstress and she enjoyed quilting, embroidering,

and making clothes for her kids and grandkids. She liked traveling with her

husband and they were dedicated OU Women's Basketball fans.

Carla was devoted to her family and loved them dearly. She especially

treasured spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Carla was preceded in death by her high school

sweetheart and loving husband of forty-seven years, Rickey Jones in 2019.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children: Amy Whyatt and husband,

David, of Bakersville and Marcus Jones of Norman, OK; her precious

grandchildren: Miah, Benjamin, Daniel, Jacob, and Caleb; great

grandchildren: Korbyn and Everett; one sister, Monica Babb of Altus, OK;

and many dear friends.
