Norman, OK - Barbara June "Barb" Henderson was born on March 1, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to June Ilene and Marvin Jerrel Henderson. She passed away on July 18, 2025 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Other than one (1) year in a one room schoolhouse in Fletcher, Oklahoma, Barb was educated in the Norman Public School System, graduating from Norman High School in 1964. She went onto Abilene Christian University for one (1) year and the University of Oklahoma for two (2) years.

Barb's lifetime employer was Southwestern Bell. She started as a switchboard operator in 1966 and stayed with the company for 32 years, retiring at the age of 52 in 1998 as an Area Manager over Arkansas, Oklahoma, and parts of Texas.

Barb was the keeper of Henderson and Parish (her mother's maiden name) family history. She was a creator of many pieces of art, first through her pottery in the 70s and 80s and then for many decades, through cross stitch. Barb had two (2) nephews, her brother Jerry's kids, Stephen Henderson and Scott Henderson. She doted on her nephews their entire lives as if they were her own children. However, she was not only known as "Aunt Barb" to Stephen and Scott. Many children of cousins or friends also referred to Aunt Barb. Dozens, if not hundreds, of Barb's cross stitches are in houses throughout Oklahoma and the United States in general, in the form of wall hangings, Christmas ornaments, and other cherished items.

Barb was a devout Catholic and member of St. Mark's in Norman. Her travels to New York, California, Yellowstone, and Las Vegas to visit family are fond memories for all. She is preceded in death by her parents, June and Marvin J. Henderson, plus her brothers Jerry Henderson and Terry Henderson. She is survived to her sister-in-law (really, sister) Dianne Henderson, her nephew Scott Henderson, her nephew Stephen Henderson and his wife Sierra, her grand-nephew Austin Henderson, and her grand-nephew Ash Henderson. She is also survived by many cousins and friends, including her beloved class of '64 friends with whom Barb had eaten lunch on a regular basis for more years than they would all like to admit!
