Mona's Story

Mona Lee Felton, of Moore, OK, passed away February 18, 2017, at the age of 89. She was born August 24, 1927, in Waurika, OK. Mona was a Salutatorian but didn't walk the stage at graduation. Mona was a member of Crossroads Cathedral. Mona sang on the radio with her sisters in 1942 on KWOS Radio. Mona was a homemaker and she had worked at Tinker Air Force Base and also at the Army Ammunition Plant in McAlister. She went on to retire from the Federal Aviation Administration after 25 years of service as a Procurement Officer. Mona had briefly worked at Liberty Bank in Oklahoma City when starting out in her working career. She enjoyed going to the casinos and socializing. She was a huge OKC Thunder and OU fan. She enjoyed drinking a Dr. Pepper and watching the "Price is Right." Family members described Mona as "just plain funny," and they said she could have been a comedian. She was an outgoing, kind, loving person with a zest for life. Everyone referred to her as "Grandma." Her first love was her Lord and Saviour, her family, and especially her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchilden - that was the highlight of her day. Mona is survived by 1 daughter, Janet Medlock, of Moore; 2 sons, James Felton & wife, Vickie, of Crosby, TX, and Larry Felton & companion, Jaime Killgore, of OKC; 6 grandchildren, Brandy Newby & husband, Clay, Lindsay Welch & husband, Tylor, Jena Gillium & husband, Josh, Jason Felton & wife, Krystal, Misty Pruitt & husband, Jeremy, and Tiffany Roye & husband, Scott; 11 great-grandchildren, Chassidy Thompson, Tristen Thompson, Raven Woolbright, Raylie Roye, Makayan, Hayden, and Teagan Pruitt, Easton Felton, Charlotte & Cori Gilliam, and Kellen Welch;1 sister, Emma Woodall, of Spring, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Pollard and Willie Mae Chance; her husband, Ray Felton; 2 sisters, Willow Dean Dudley and Holleen Boswell; 2 brothers, Hoyt Pollard and Newman Pollard; great-granddaughter, Cheri Gayle; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services for Mona will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 21, 2017, under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, OK.
