Mary Evelyn Thomas Edwards, 95, of Norman passed away Wednesday September 20, 2017 at Shannon Springs assisted living, Chickasha, OK.
Mary was born January 29, 1922 in Tipton, IN to Edward Ellyson and Ertie Burns Ellyson. She was a good Christian woman and a Proud mother of four. She was a business woman and owned and operated the well-known Northside Market in Norman for 51 years. She worked alongside her daughter Cheryl for 39 years. Her daughter Roberta, Cheryl, and Mary loved going to garage sales, thrift shops and estate sales. Northside Market was known as a grocery store, meat market, fruit stand, second hand store, antique store, and medical resale. Above all she loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Roberta and Vernon Fullbright of Gracemont, OK, Cheryl and Joe Shelton of Oklahoma City; grandchildren: Keith Hargis, Steve Hargis, Jennifer Hargis, Christopher Shelton, Lori Smith, Robert Smith, Julie Tackett; great-grandchildren: Jessica Henderson, Greg Hitchcock, Shawn Hitchcock, Hudson Tackett; several great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouses: Joe Hathaway, Kent Thomas, Col. Paul Edwards; children: Carol Smith, Joe Hathaway Jr.; as well as 12 siblings.
Visitation will be from 8-8 on Saturday and 12-8 on Sunday at Primrose Funeral Service. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Monday September 25, 2017 at Primrose Funeral Service Chapel, Norman, OK. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City.
