John was born to Bruce and Patricia (Marshall) Holbrook on September 9, 1954 in Tuscon, Arizona. He passed away suddenly on January 18th at the Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 62 years.
John grew up and graduated from the Round Valley High School in Springerville, Arizona. On February 21, 1973 John entered the U.S. Marine Corp. During his Tour he received the Good Conduct Medal, the Rifle Expert Medal, and the National Defense Medal. On March 18, 1977 John received an Honorable Discharge as Lance Cpl. On September 1, 1978 John married the love of his life Marti Lewis in Hammond, Louisiana.
They made their home in Tuscon, Arizona before moving to Noble, Ok. 22 years ago. John was employed with the Norman Holiday Inn before his retirement. While living in Arizona John and Marti fell in love with hiking. A 15 mile hike up and down the cliffs was nothing for them. He enjoyed reading, most recently books pertaining to Spiritual Guidance and the Lord. He had a passion for music and making jewelry. He loved his dogs and fishing. He enjoyed cooking. But most importantly time with his Wife, Sons and Grandchildren were on the top of his list.
John was preceded in death by his Father. Those who survive him include his Mother Patricia of Virginia, his Wife Marti of the home, his Sons; Justin and Jared of Norman, Brother Paul Holbrook, Sister Linda Rufi, (5) Precious Grandchildren; Breanna, Alexandria, Maverick, Claire and Cash and finally his Best Friend Derick Dodge.
Memorial Service: 2:00pm Sunday, January 22nd, McMahans Funeral Chapel. Military Honors by the U.S. Marine Corp and Patriot Gurard Riders. Officiating: Chaplain (Chappy) Mike Garner
