David Kenneth Loewen, 58, passed from this life to enter life eternal on February 14, 2017.
He was born March 9, 1958, to Kenneth Leroy and Jean Elizabeth Loewen in Hillsboro, Kansas.
David grew up working for the Norman Transcript, mowing yards, working OU ballgames, and helping maintain his father's rental properties.
David graduated in 1976 from Norman High and from Tabor College in 1983 with a business degree.
While David worked in his early years in property management and for Grainger, his life's true enjoyment was working with his hands in construction. He built passive solar homes in the '80s and later established Premier Tile which was to become a very successful tile, marble, and wood floor installation business.
David married Sherrie Listen, on March 27, 2011, and the two greatly enjoyed the opportunity to work together in numerous residential homes helping to remodel kitchens, bathroom, and floors in the OKC metro area from Guthrie to Pauls Valley and Shawnee to El Reno. They also installed tile in several medical and commercial buildings in the area including 12 bathrooms at Jim Thorpe Rehab in SW OKC.
Besides working together, David and Sherrie also enjoyed golf, riding bikes, OU Sooners, OSU Cowboys, St Louis Cardinals, and OKC Thunder.
David was taught from a very young age the value of a close relationship with God, loving His family, and working diligently and always had an eye for perfection. He was an amazing man of strong faith and commitment to His beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That commitment and love continued to pour over onto his wife, son and daughter, and Sherrie's daughters and grandchildren, and all the family and friends he loved so dearly. He lived an outstanding life as an example before us of character and faith. Words cannot express the loss we feel.
David was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Jean Loewen and his aunt Ruby Sutton. He is survived by his wife Sherrie, his children Josh Loewen and wife Callie, and Emily Loewen, Sherrie's children Rachel Amanda Deris and husband Chris, and Kaylie Smith, and 5 grandchildren, and by his sisters Grace Fischer and husband Keith, Juanita Folmsbee, and Janice Loewen, his aunts Dorothy Weber and Esther Pankratz, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the congregational care office at Crossings and the attending medical teams at Integris Hospice House for their skillful, compassionate care of our special loved one.
The Memorial Service for David will be Friday, February 24th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Crossings Community Church in OKC. In the place of flowers or gifts, we ask that donations be made in memory of David at water4.org.
