Carroll Duane Richardson, 79, of Norman, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017. Memorial services will be at 2:00 Saturday, July 22nd at Concord Missionary Baptist Church, 1500 N. Stubbeman, Norman, with a dinner at noon preceding the service.
Carroll was born July 25, 1937, on a farm just south of Purcell, Oklahoma to Jesse and Donnie (Wharton) Richardson. He attended school in Dibble where he met his future wife, Joyce, in 5th grade. Carroll and Joyce were married March 12th, 1955 and in 1964 moved to Norman, where they lived in the same house for over 50 years.
Carroll worked 15 years for Norman Builder's Supply before going to work for the Norman Public School System for several years. He left the schools to work at the Postal Training Center where he retired around 2005. Carroll also enjoyed working side jobs in construction and upholstery.
He was the kind of "Papaw" every kid should have. He made toy boxes for all the grandkids and others, as well as, other projects. It didn't bother him if they tore up the grass or dug holes in the yard and he enjoyed spending time and just talking with them.
Carroll was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Lee Richardson; parents Jesse and Donnie Richardson; brothers: Vanoy, Sherman, Dean, Rodney, and Bobby; and sister: Bonnie Richardson.
Carroll is survived by daughters: Jo Gail (Randy) Joslin, Dana (Roger) McDaniel; Five grandchildren: Jeremy (Niki) Joslin, Aaron Joslin, Corey (Shaina) McDaniel, Mallory (David) Ebers, and Shane McDaniel; and five great-grandchildren: Alex and Kendra Joslin, Kylie and Kinley Ebers, and Hannah Jo Massey; Sisters: Wanda Wade and Joyce Clinton; sister-in-law and dearly loved friend Joanne Richardson, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. He was also survived by the Sharp's and Miller's of Dibble, including Uncle Kay Sharp.
