Arnold Jacob Cogswell, of Norman, OK, passed away February 20, 2017, at the age of 86. He was born September 20, 1930, in West Leyden, N.Y., to Frank and Lucinda Louise (Fey) Cogswell. Arnold enjoyed working in the yard, and flower and vegetable gardening. Arnold also enjoyed the animals and he enjoyed the woods. He especially liked his cats and dogs. Arnold enjoyed watching OU football and old black and white movies. He enjoyed listening to classical music, especially Perry Como and Frank Sinatra. Arnold also enjoyed singing and he had a beautiful voice. He grew up in upstate New York and then moved to Oklahoma in 1964. Arnold heard his country's call and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, where he received an honorable discharge for services rendered to his country when called upon to do so. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base, where he retired as a supervisor. Arnold then went to work for Aging Services in Norman and worked until he was 86 years of age. He was a very hardworking, honest man with a kind, loving and sensitive heart. He was a very good provider and protector for his family. His first love was being with his wife, Grace, and his family. Arnold is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Grace Shirley Cogswell, of the home; 1 son, Richard Cogswell, of Little Axe; 2 daughters, Lucinda James & husband, David, of Norman, and Lisa Marie Cogswell, of Norman; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Lillian and Gladys; and 1 great-grandchild, Malachi Henley. Memorial Services for Arnold will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 24, 2017, at the Lynlee Mae Chapel & Event Center, located at 507 E. Main Street, in Moore, OK. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, Moore, OK.
