William "Bill"'s Story
William "Bill" Thomas Henderson passed away July 19, 2017, in Norman, OK, at the age of 92. He was born September 29, 1924 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and the U.S. Navy in the Korean conflict. He also continued serving his country as a civil servant for over 30 years with the Department of the Air Force and retired out of Tinker AFB, OK. Bill attained Eagle Scout with five Gold Palms and continued with the Boy Scouts as a leader in Shawnee and Norman. In addition, Bill was a 32nd Degree Mason in Shawnee. He is survived by his wife Reta (Bovee) Henderson; children, Alicia VanNess of Oklahoma City, Sarah Rodden and husband Kenneth of Newcastle, William Henderson and wife Patricia of Pendergrass, GA, and Laura Latham of Norman, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was a respected citizen of his community and loved dearly by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
