Tom Logan Knott, age 73 of Norman, passed away on Sept. 2, 2019. A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Monday, September 9th at 11am at First Christian Church located at 220 S. Webster in Norman. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services.
Tom was born on March 12, 1946 in Blackwell, OK to Tom Logan Knott III and Mary Olga (Masters) Knott. He was raised in Billings, OK and graduated from Billings High School with the class of 18 seniors in 1964. During his youth, he achieved his Eagle Scout ranking. Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country from 1968 until 1975. During his time in the Air Force, he served overseas in both Turkey and Japan. Tom graduated from Oklahoma State University. During his career he was a teacher for the Olive Public Schools then for the oil field service company, Dowell, where he worked in many capacities and locations for almost two decades. Upon moving to Norman, he worked nine years for Flowboy Manufacturing. In 2006, he partnered with a friend to open their own business, Asphalt Belting Services, where he worked until his passing.
In 1987, Tom was introduced to Jana Leigh Blair. They married in 2001 after Tom relocated to Norman. They enjoyed traveling together to destinations near and far and always took the opportunity to explore somewhere new.
Tom was known as being an extremely patriotic man. In 2006, he began volunteering as a claims writer for Veteran's Corner Inc., where he made many great and lasting friendships. He was also a member of VFW Post 4890 where he was currently serving as Quartermaster. He was an active member and former deacon of First Christian Church in Norman.
Tom's interests included studying military history and aircraft, music, growing roses, his pet dachshunds, and traveling with Jana. He will be remembered as a humorous, wonderful man, willing to help any neighbor, family or friend and had a laugh that was recognizable anywhere. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Buchanan; and brothers: Micheal Knott and Roger Knott.
He is survived by his wife, Jana Knott; daughter, Amy Knott; step-daughter: Dena Phillips; step-son: Travis Kime and their families, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
