Lt. Col. (Ret), Thomas D. Pearson, Jr. of Norman, OK., passed away Thursday, June 27th, 2019. Tom was born on April 5th, 1939, to Thomas D. and Ruth T. Pearson in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Tom was an accomplished intellect with many academic achievements, which, to his family, seemed to come without effort. After winning an appointment from Senator Mike Monroney of Oklahoma through the Civil Service exam, Tom attended West Point and graduated with honors in 1962. Following, in 1974, Tom earned an MBA in Economics from Loyola University and finally receiving his J.D. from Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University in 1984.

His military career was just as accomplished. Upon graduation from West Point, Tom was commissioned as a second lieutenant and served 3 1/2 tours in Vietnam. During that time he was awarded a field promotion to Captain of C Company, 3-12 Infantry, decorated with three Bronze Stars, one for Valor and a Purple Heart. After 24 years of service with the U.S. Army, Lt. Colonel Pearson retired from the Department of Defense, stationed at the Pentagon and military service in 1983. He worked in the private sector as a Criminal Trial Attorney until his full retirement in 2012. After retirement, Tom taught Ethics and General Law at the University of Oklahoma.

Tom was a devout member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Norman, OK, where he served as Treasurer for many years and on June 1st, 2019 he completed the Education for Ministry (EfM) certificate program in Theological Education. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club of Norman and sat on many committees. His hobbies included classic cars, his cherished Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, and classical music, and was an avid reader.
