Scott's Story

Scott William Porter, age 48, left this life on Saturday, November 25, 2017 in Moore, Oklahoma. Predeceased by his parents, William L. Porter and Rose M. Racalto, as well as his loyal companion, Bailey.
He is survived by the love of his life, Amy L Porter, adoring "shazister" Karen M. Porter, step-children Jared (Kelley) Koerner, Morgan Koerner and Logan Koerner, niece Dallas R. Barthelmann, and beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
Born and raised in Rochester, NY, Scott followed in his father's footsteps learning percussion at the age of 8; developing a love for music (odd-time especially), all the while tormenting his sister with the Paradiddle, until mastering the fills, accents and solos that would permeate our lives with music.
Scott graduated from Churchville Chili H.S. in 1987 and then Ohio Diesel Technical Institute, finally becoming an owner of Brookhaven Auto Service in Norman, Oklahoma.
Working on cars was something that came naturally to Scott, much like his musical inclinations; always giving 100% in everything he did. Scott's natural ability to mentor and teach found him giving of himself to those who had a spark and genuinely wanted to learn...anything. He was a "jack of all trades" mastering all of them. Scott also enjoyed mixing sound for local bands and ministries, which ultimately brought him to Oklahoma in 2009, where he would begin a new life with his bride, Amy.
Scott was a brilliant, loving, hard working man who had an engaging personality and a witty, sarcastic sense of humor, who led an extraordinary life, leaving his mark on every single person he met. To say that he will be missed is a gross understatement.
He was laid to rest on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Moore Cemetery following graveside services.
