Graveside funeral service for Sam H. Johnson will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dave Menge officiating.
Arrangements are under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
Sam H. Johnson, age 79, Norman, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Norman. He was born November 2, 1937 in Mangum, Oklahoma, to Robert Logan and Edna Perle (Hall) Johnson. Sam grew up in Mangum and was a 1955 graduate of Mangum High School. He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma, graduating with his Bachelor of Journalism in 1959. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1963.
Sam and Martha Bea were married on October 20, 1962 in Newcastle, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2008. The couple moved to Lawton in 1963 and Sam began practicing law with Art Cavanaugh. He practiced law in Lawton until 2008 when he retired and moved to Norman.
Sam was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and received his 50 year recognition in 2013. He was also a member of the Comanche County Bar Association. He was an avid fan of all OU athletics and The Pride of Oklahoma.
He is survived by his three sons, Logan Johnson and wife Kim, Norman, Oklahoma, Gregg Johnson and fiancé Anne Lyng, Altus, Oklahoma and Clay Johnson, Abilene, Texas; three grandchildren, Taylor Beth Johnson, Chase Johnson and Cole Johnson.
His daughter, Holly Beth Johnson, his brother, Robert Logan Johnson, and an infant sister preceded him in death.
