Roger's Story

Roger was born in Yukon Oklahoma on November 4 1946 and passed peacefully at home on January 19 2017.
He is proceeded in death by parents Myrl and Helen Cooper and sister Janet. He is survived in death by Daughter Erin McCune and Son in law Brandon McCune. Grandchildren Emma Meyer, Bodie Meyer, Cleo McCune and Crosby McCune. By his brother Curt Cooper and sisters Sally Risinger, Peggy Cooper, Pam Durant, Clara Trusty and Nelda Farrar. Roger graduate of Norman High School in 1964 and The University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree. Roger retired from Oklahoma Electric Coop in 2009 after 29 years of service. He was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in 1995 for his years of coaching and managing.

Roger loved the game of softball and made it his passion in life. He loved the University of Oklahoma Softball Program, where he spent most of his time. During this time Roger got very involved with the OU Softball team as a booster and member of the Diamond Club. He was a mentor and was there for many players who needed his support in there time of need. Roger requested to not have a funeral. Instead there will be a celebration of life in the spring at an OU Softball home game.
