Ray Rutledge was born to Kenneth and Georgia (Elledge) Rutledge on June 13th, 1932 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of three children. His family moved to Norman when Ray was 3 years old and he has lived there ever since, and attended Norman High School.
He married Donna Jean Gaston on September 1, 1956. They had three children: Rhea, Roderick, and Russell. Raymond was one of Jehovah's Witnesses since July 4th, 1970 and greatly enjoyed fellowship with his spiritual brothers and sisters. He also loved being outdoors and would spend time with his family in the mountains, camping, fishing, hiking, and enjoying a good campfire. He also enjoyed working on antique cars and motorcycles and was skilled at body work, painting, and engine repair. Ray was also a professional mechanic as well as having worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Georgia; his sister, Adelma Humphries and his brother, Keith Rutledge.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his children, Rhea Loveless, Roderick and Russell Rutledge; 3 Grandchildren, Summer Buesing, Marshall Cooper, and Sunni Koszarek; and 6 Great-Grandchildren, Kyler and Kason Buesing, Jaleigh Ray Cooper, and Olive, Atlas, and Maksim Koszarek.
Ray was known for his big smile and sense of humor. He never met a stranger because of his genuine love of people of all sorts. He was loved very much by his family and friends and will be missed greatly. He died February 15th, 2018 at Norman Regional Hospital.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 24 at 2pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Norman.
