Peggy M. Rider, 81, of Norman, Oklahoma passed from this life Monday, September 18, 2017 at her home.
She was born January 1, 1936 to Daniel Alonzo and Mary Ethel (Bishop) Niece in Horatio, Arkansas.
Peggy grew up in the Brendle area and attended grade school in Brendle and finished high school at Norman and Tecumseh. She lived in Colorado, California and Texas before recently making her home in the Little Axe area.
She married Ralph Rider on February 2, 1954 in Marshall, Oklahoma.
Peggy worked on an assembly line in Houston and Kansas City, as a Quality Inspector for Westinghouse and as a secretary for an insurance agency before working with Ralph in their Hotshot business as a truck driver.
She was a member of Countryside Church in Bethel Acres and loved her church family. Peggy enjoyed working in her flower beds, going deer hunting, driving fast and going on motorcycle rides with her family. She loved her family very much and served as the family peacemaker.
She was preceded in death her parents, Daniel and Mary Niece; 3 brothers, Daniel Lonzo Niece, Jr., Sonny Niece and Donny Niece; and 3 sisters, Lori Ann Nelson, Bonnie Ethel Chandler and Linda Sue Niece.
Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 63 years, Ralph A. Rider of the home; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Kathryn Elaine Gordon of Norman, OK, Nancy Lavonne and Jim Scott of Cedaredge, CO, Debra Lynn and Rick Warner of Norman, OK; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 3 sisters, Ruth Evelyn Myer, Goldie Alice Williams and Joy Gilpin; 1 brother, Robert Lee Niece; and other loving extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 and continue through service time. Family gathering to greet friends and family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Countryside Church with Pastor Dennis Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
