Patricia's Story

Patricia Ann Snyder, a long-time resident of Norman, peacefully passed away on January 5, 2017. She had been living in Austin, TX near her daughter for the last eighteen months. She was 90.
Patricia was born on March 7, 1926 to James A. Donahue and Elgie Mae Moose Donahue in Heilwood, Pennsylvania. She graduated high school in Heilwood. Patricia met Bruce Edward Snyder in Harrisburg, PA and they were married in 1951. They had three children. The family moved to Norman in 1965 when Bruce accepted a position at Tinker Air Force Base. Patricia was primarily a homemaker but also worked for the Norman Public Schools at Jackson Elementary from 1969 through 1988. She was a volunteer for many years at the Nu-N-Nuf Shop at Norman Regional Hospital.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and four sisters. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Barbara Petry and husband Mike of Austin, TX, Bruce Snyder and Sue of Norman, and Jim Snyder and Susan of Norman; seven grandchildren: David Snyder, John Snyder, Dana Petry Wienke and husband Jimmy, Joseph Petry, Kayla Snyder, Lauren Snyder, and Regan Snyder; and her brother Thomas Donahue of Sacramento, CA.
A memorial service will be held on January 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm at University Lutheran Church and Student Center, 914 Elm Avenue. (Parking is available on College Street, west of church.) In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to University Lutheran Church and Student Center where she was a long-time member.
