Mary's Story

Mary Alice (Harris) Treat went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2017. She was born May 9th 1935 in Sasakwa, OK to Ethel (Cleveland) Harris and Sidney Harris. Mary was the fifth of seven children. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, sister Marceline Grigsby, and her brothers Joseph Eastan (Jack) Harris, Jerry Don Harris, L.W. (Budgie) Harris and Toney Lee Harris. She is survived by her husband Bob Treat and daughters Sara and Cheryl Treat of Norman, sister June Campbell of Fayetteville, AR. sister in law Elizabeth Harris of Springdale, AR and several nieces and nephews. Mary married Bobby Joe Treat on December 10, 1953 after graduating from Wewoka High School. They celebrated 63 years of marriage together moving to Norman, OK in 1959. Mary loved attending church and accepted Christ as her savior as a young girl. She was a member of Northeast Baptist. Whether teaching 1st graders at Sunday School, baking cookies or preparing meals she enjoyed contributing to the church. She was active in her daughters Blue Bird and Campfire groups, PTA activities and volunteering at Norman Regional Hospital. She loved her Family so very much. Mary attended Oscar Rose College. She retired from J.D. McCarty Center for handicap children as a teacher's aide. Mary was humble and always thankful for everything she had in life. Crossword puzzles and reading the bible were Mary's favorite pastimes with Psalm 100 as her most precious verse. She will be missed by many close friends and family. A Memorial Service celebrating Mary's life will be held 12:00 Thursday January 26, 2017 at Northeast Baptist Church, 905 E. Rock Creek Road.
