Johnnie Ladean Blevins

June 01, 1934 - April 04, 2017

Johnnie LaDean Blevins, a longtime resident of Norman, Oklahoma, died after a lengthy struggle with Dementia in Annapolis, MD on April 4, 2017.
Born in Crawford, TX in 1934 to Otho and Lillie Pack, Johnnie was the youngest of four children. The family moved to Oklahoma shortly after her birth. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1952. Shortly after graduation, she married Chuck Blevins of Purcell, her high school sweetheart. Johnnie packed her bags to follow her soldier around the world, living in CA, MA, Ethiopia, Thailand, and VA. They returned to OK after Chuck retired in 1975. Johnnie managed the lives of four children and worked outside the home most of her life. In Norman, she worked at Sharp's Cleaners and then retired from Allard's Cleaners. She supported Chuck throughout his military career and during his second career with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. She often sent the staff and inmates homemade goodies. Johnnie served in many volunteer roles in her church over the years: Sunday school teacher, assisting with international students, cooking for retreats, and driving youth groups around. Johnnie and Chuck were married 57 years before he preceded her in death in 2009. She came to live with her girls in Maryland in the summer of 2010. Before her decline, she was always ready to go: out to eat, garage sale shopping, or on a trip. She was known for her quick wit and old-fashioned Oklahoma sayings. She was very generous. If she had something you needed, she would give it to you without hesitation.
She is survived by her children: Cindy Blevins, Gary Blevins, Ronald Blevins, and Lisa Blattenberger; her grandchildren: Robert Blevins, Michael Blevins, Crystal Dye, Joshua Blevins, Julie Fairbaugh, Lily Blevins and Faith Blevins. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was always very careful to treat her children and grandchildren equally; we were all her favorite.
Johnnie will be interred with her husband of 57 years at Arlington National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, in Norman at 2 pm on July 1, 2017.
