John Jerald Seeger was born to Henry and Nadine Seeger in McAlester, Oklahoma on December 24, 1939. Henry worked for the U.S. Mail Service and Nadine was in charge of the raising. David, John's older brother, was less than thrilled with John's arrival, but John felt the same way when younger brother William arrived 18 months later. The family of 4 moved to Tulsa, where William (Bill) was born, as Henry had received a transfer in his work. Another transfer came along and the family of 5 moved to Monett, Missouri., where John started school. About a year later the family moved again and eventually settled in Bethany, Oklahoma. John completed his schooling in Bethany, graduating in 1957. In high school John participated in Band and Choir where he discovered his fabulous baritone/bass voice. John joined the Air National Guard shortly after graduation and remained in Oklahoma throughout his basic training and Basic Aircraft Maintenance training. He left the ANG in 1959 to join the U. S. Air Force.
While stationed at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho, John met his first wife, Judith M Smith in 1961. After a brief courtship of the couple married on December 23, 1961 and immediately headed to California to follow their dreams. There they had 2 children, Jolene in 1963, and James in 1966, while living and working in Pasadena, California. The family moved to Huntington Beach in April of 1968. John and Judy owned a very successful computer repair company and built the company together beginning in 1971, raised their family and for a time had a wonderful life. The couple separated in 1981 and divorced in 1982. John later married Jo-Lynne Green and they had 2 children, Nathaniel (1991) and Hannah (1993). The new family moved to Sun Valley, Idaho in 1996 where they developed 2 successful businesses and enjoyed a wonderful life and lifestyle. Hard times fell on the couple in 2005 and they eventually separated and John moved back to Oklahoma in 2008, to be near family. John also lived for a time in Nevada with his oldest daughter Jolene and her husband Dave. John eventually ventured to California to live with his youngest children, but he eventually returned to Oklahoma in 2017. John lived in Norman with his niece, Betty until permanent lodging could be established, which is where he remained until his death.
John had big dreams and he fulfilled most of those during his life. He loved to sing and had traveled much with a barber-shop quartet and concert choirs over the years. He loved to sing and he was good at it, he had the richest baritone/bass voice and he loved old gospel songs. He was kind, funny, determined and focused. He loved God, his children and his extended family. His friendship, some lasted a lifetime and others, although brief, were very valuable to him, especially at the end of his life.
John is survived by his 4 children; Jolene Stone (Dave), James Seeger (Heidi), Nathaniel Seeger and Hannah Seeger. His Brother, William Seeger (Dorene). His 8 grandchildren; Jacqui Bellew, Zachary Settle, Nicole Fullmer (Brian), Jamie Stone, Danielle Koyle (Clint), Ashley Seeger and Bethany Seeger. 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nadine, his older brother David, and great-granddaughter Wyett.
Memorial Service will be held at Goodrich United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
