John "Rod"'s Story
John "Rod" Buol was born to John and Dorothy (Curtis) Buol on September 17, 1948 in Van Nuys, CA. He departed this life on October 7, 2017 at his home in Norman, OK at the age of 69 years and 20 days. Rod attended San Fernando High School. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Iris Belvadene Goad that he met at church. He affectionately called her Bel. They began their married life in Palmdale, CA. They were blessed with two beautiful babies, John R. Jr. and Pamela Diane. His Wife and children were the loves of his life. He worked at McDonald Douglas for 11 years. Evenings and weekends he coached his kids in baseball and softball. In 1979 they moved from CA. to OK. He was employed with General Motors in OKC. until plant closure. He then transferred to Arlington TX. and worked for 2 years until his retirement in 2008. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. As a teenager he was always a loyal LA Dodger fan and passed away while listening to the game with his family the evening of his death. He was a kind and loving man that made everyone feel at ease. He loved his family and friends and would do whatever they needed to help them. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 3 Aunts, 1 Uncle and 2 Cousins. Those who survived him include his Wife , Bel, Son John Jr. (Azure), Daughter Pamela McAuley. 9 grand children: Mark McAuley (Kyra), Nicole McAuley, Taylor McAuley (Raphaela-fiance'), Summer McAuley, Bradleigh Buol, Sydni Smith-Buol, Brayden Buol, Baehler Buol, Jack Buol. 6 great-grandchildren: Jayden McAuley, Josh Johnson, Harper McAuley, Phenix McAuley, Rhett Buol, Windsley Thornton. 2 Ssters: Karen Reeves, Melody Elek, 1 Brother Jess Preston in CA. He left behind many family and friends but special mention to Dave Whiteley, Johnny Jenkins and his good fishing buddies Anthony and Diana Mattioda and his most loving and faithful companion JoC.
