Jimmy Lee Idleman, 70, was born on January 16, 1947 in Purcell, Ok to Ray and Erma (Phillips) Idleman and entered into rest on June 1, 2017 at Norman, OK. He grew up on an acerage in the Slaughterville area. Jimmy was a 1965 graduate of Noble High School where he was active in sports and FFA, and he also attended UCO. He married the love of his life and best friend, Tia Barton, at First Baptist Church, Noble. They have resided in Norman for 47 years and raised two daughters, Tera and Tisha. In his early teens, he developed a good work ethic by hauling hay and weeding flower beds for his neighbor He was self-employed in the insulation business and owned Lions Pump and Hump Convenience Store in Blanchard, OK. He also worked as a driver for C.A.R.T. of OU where he enjoyed the many friends he made while driving his daily routes. He loved spending time at his coi pond that he built and often moved around. He loved to tell funny stories, never met a stranger and always left you with a smile on your face. He will be remembered for his quick-wit, caring heart and the joy and laughter he brought to family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, and dedicated to his grandkids who called him Popa, brother, and uncle that will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Erma Idleman, mother-in-law, Nevada Williams, father-in-law, J.C. Barton; grandparents, Ellis and Viola Phillips, Lester and Carrie(Hawkins) Idleman and Pearl and Ralph Dougherty; and grandchild, Aaron Potts in 2005. He survived by his wife of 52 years, Tia, of the the home; daughters, Tera Idleman of Norman and Tisha and Jason King of Edmond, OK; two brothers, Orbin and Janna Idleman of Noble, Sam and Shirley Idleman of Noble; one sister, Shirley and Jack Jones of Rosedale, OK; grandchildren, Abby Potts, Norman, OK, Isabel and Lillian King of Edmond, OK; great granddaughter, Averie Rayburn of OKC; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at CrossPointe Church 2601 24th Ave SE, Norman, OK. Flower arrangements should be delivered to the church. Arrangements are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
