Jimmy Chuck Charles Calvert, of Norman, OK, 77, born August 11, 1940 went home to the Lord on the night of October 29, 2017.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 27 years, Bernnest Bernie Calvert. He leaves behind two sons, 2 step-daughters, and 2 stepsons, Rick Calvert, of Guthrie, Robert Calvert and spouse, of Norman, Sally Fogle, of Hinesville, GA, Carolyn Austin, of Norman, Gene VanRiper, of Norman, and Roger VanRiper and spouse, of Norman; and 2 brothers, Leo and Jerry Calvert. Grandpa Chuck also leaves behind 16 grandkids and 14 great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lydia Calvert and older brother, Sid. Chuck graduated from Norman High School, where he played football in 1958. Chuck proudly served in the National Guard for 6 years. He started working at Mr. Blacks later known as McPhersons Machinery in 1958, where he was a master machinist until he retired in 2013. Grandpa Chuck always had a joke to tell, even if it was the same one and he loved working in his shop and hunting with his grandsons. Chuck was gifted with being able to fall asleep anywhere sitting or standing. Now he gets to rest with God. Rest in peace Grandpa Chuck. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the chapel of John M. Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, OK. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
