Jesus Fred Fernandez


Jesus Fred Fernandez passed away December 31st, 2018 at Rambling Oaks Assisted Living Center Norman, Oklahoma. Born January 6, 1928 to Fred and Celia Fernandez in San Antonio, TX. Fred attended St. Patrick's grammar school, Dallas, TX. and then graduated from Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, TX. He attended St. Mary's University and graduated from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. Fred served his country in the infantry and Adjutant General Corps during the Korean War. He married Betty Jean Peterson on June 4th, 1954 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dallas, TX. Fred spent forty years in the ladies apparel industry and was a principal and Director of Manufacturing for the Lillian Russell Inc, and Custom Size Inc, in Wewoka, Oklahoma and Michael Casuals, Inc in Konowa, Oklahoma. He then joined Jarrel, Inc in Dallas, TX as a quality control Director and became an apparel coordinator consultant for manufacturers in the Caribbean Basin Initiative of Latin American. Fred finished his working career with Databank of Shawnee as an equipment salesman. Fred was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and past member of the School Board and the Parish Council and served as a lector. He received an Archbishop appointment as a Eucharistic minister.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Celia Fernandez and sister Ida Mlakar. He is survived by his wife Betty Fernandez of Norman, OK; His son Michael Fernandez and Wife Elizabeth;his grandchildren John Michael and Erin of Dallas. Son Paul Fernandez and wife Tamey; his grandchildren Erik and Evan of Norman, Oklahoma. Rick Fernandez and wife Patti; his granddaughter Morgan of Norman, Oklahoma. Daughter Linda Vaughan and husband Michael; his granddaughter Kara of Norman, Oklahoma. Daughter Dian Siegmeier and husband Eric; grandchildren Calista and Jacyln of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
