Jerrel Dwain "Jerry"'s Story
Jerrel Dwain "Jerry" Henderson was born on April 27, 1943 in Norman and passed away on February 26, 2018 in Norman. A 1961 graduate of Norman High School, Jerry started college at Abilene Christian University. He studied at Abilene Christian for two (2) years before joining the Navy. He served for four (4) years including a one year tour in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1967 and enrolled at OU, earning a business degree in 1970.
In 1968 he met Dianne Adams, the woman with whom he was meant to spend the rest of his life. Jerry and Dianne were married on March 30, 1969. Shortly thereafter Jerry took a position with the Internal Revenue Service in Lubbock, Texas. Jerry and Dianne moved to Lubbock, eventually landing in Dallas. In 1979 their son Scott was born, and Stephen followed in 1982.
In 1988 the Hendersons moved back to Norman. Jerry retired in 2003 following a few years working at OU and spent his time playing golf, collecting marbles, watching Sooner football, and playing poker. Jerry's pride and joy were his three (3) grandchildren: Macy, Bryant, and Austin.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and June, his brother Terry, his brothers-in-law Jerry and Paul, and his daughter-in-law Brandolyn.
He is survived by his wife Dianne, of the home, his sister Barbara, children Sarah and her husband MB, Scott, and Stephen and his wife Sierra, and his grandchildren Macy, Bryant, and Austin.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Jerry's name to Brandolyn's Gift at 6900 Westcliff Drive Suite 707 Las Vegas, NV 89145-0616
